Sandman

Sandman is a short story by Hans Christian Andersen following young Hjalmar across seven enchanted nights, each shaped by the Sandman's magic umbrella. A garden blooms in his bedroom, a painting becomes a living fairy tale, a storm carries him across a wild sea, and he shrinks small enough to attend a mouse wedding. Each night builds toward something deeper — a quiet question about how we live, and what we leave behind — until the Sandman introduces his brother, a figure known by another, far more serious name.
