The One Hundredth Princess

"The One Hundredth Princess" is a fairy tale short story about the Green Enchantress, who is so troubled by a king's cruel hunting that she sets out to stop him — only to discover her magic has no power over him. Giving up her witchcraft entirely, she enters the palace as a humble kitchen maid, where wandering vegetable gardens and misdirected herbs slowly begin to change the king in ways no spell ever could. The story builds toward a palace party, a missing hundredth princess, and a king who must decide what he truly values.
