A Christmas Goblin

"A Christmas Goblin" is a comic poem about a self-important goblin who convinces himself that Christmas cannot happen without his presence. Dressed in a red coat and bobbing peaked hat, he rides a lop-eared rabbit to the Squire's midnight celebration — only to send Jack Frost, Santa Claus, mice, elves, and a cricket choir into complete chaos. While the goblin mistakes the uproar for applause, a wise old crow delivers the final verdict on vanity.
