The First Christmas Tree

"The First Christmas Tree" by Eugene Field follows a small, humble tree in a forest that witnesses angels descending from heaven on the night of Christ's birth. Chosen and kissed by the angels, the little tree is guarded for years by a celestial protector as it grows into the forest's greatest beauty. When the Master himself visits and rests beneath its branches, a deep bond forms — until one anguished night He comes alone to pray, and the angel silently departs, leaving the tree vulnerable to a fate it cannot yet understand.
