A Christmas Carol

"A Christmas Carol" by Christian Burke opens on a frost-bright winter night, where crystal-hung trees and a silver moon set the scene for an ancient celebration. The poem moves through the nativity story — shepherds leaving their flocks, wise men crossing the desert — before turning directly to the reader: are quarrels left unresolved, kind words still unspoken? Burke's carol builds toward a quiet but urgent invitation, urging each heart to make room for something greater than the season's outward gifts.
