St. Anthony’s Godchild

St. Anthony's Godchild is a spirited fairy tale in which Antonia, a dark-eyed girl of thirteen, is taken to serve the king's court in disguise — dressed as a boy and renamed Anthony by her godfather, the good St. Anthony himself. When the king's jealous sister plots against the young page, Antonia faces a series of impossible challenges: sorting wheat from chaff overnight, stealing a purse from beneath a sleeping king's pillow, and finally capturing that same king alive. With her saintly godfather's quiet aid, she completes each task — until the final reveal changes everything.
