Peter-of-the-pigs

Peter-of-the-Pigs is a darkly comic folk tale about a clever swineherd boy named Peter, who hatches an elaborate scheme — selling six pigs, burying their ears and tails in a sand pit, and tricking his master into handing over two bags of money. Peter's quick wit carries him far, but when a roadside robber outwits him with a deadly bluff, Peter pays the ultimate price. The story ends with a wry moral sting: no matter how sharp you are, someone sharper is always waiting.
