The shepherd of clouds

"The Shepherd of Clouds" is a free short fairy tale by Henry Beston in which a farmer named Giles sets out to meet his wife Phyllida and is swallowed by a legendary storm, stumbling into the enchanted mountain kingdom of the Shepherd of Clouds. Captured and forced to tend a vast bowl where weather is brewed and released, Giles spends two years longing for home — until a robber army marching on the plain forces him to choose between obedience and everything he loves.
