Fairy Ointment

Fairy Ointment is a short fairy tale about Dame Goody, a midwife nurse summoned in the dead of night by a strange, squinny-eyed stranger to tend to his ailing wife and newborn baby. When she secretly rubs a mysterious ointment on her own eye, the shabby cottage transforms into something far stranger — and the family she is caring for is not quite human. Dame Goody keeps her secret, accepts her pay, and returns home. But at the market the next day, her new sight lands her in serious trouble.
