Princess Rosette

Princess Rosette is a fairy tale by Madame d'Aulnoy about a girl whose very existence is prophesied to bring ruin to her brothers. Freed at last from a tower after years of captivity, Rosette glimpses a peacock and vows to marry only its king — setting her brothers on a dangerous quest across unknown lands. When a jealous governess hurls Rosette into the sea on the voyage to her would-be king, she must survive on wit, loyalty, and the cleverness of her little dog Frisk, while her brothers face execution for a deception they never committed.
