The Star Money

"The Star Money" is a short fairy tale by Brothers Grimm about a destitute orphan girl who owns almost nothing — yet gives away her bread, her hood, her coat, her dress, and finally the shirt off her back to strangers shivering in the cold. With each act of generosity she is left with less, until she stands alone in a dark forest with nothing at all. What happens next hinges entirely on her selfless faith — and the night sky responds in the most unexpected way.
