Rainbow and Autumn Leaves

"Rainbow and Autumn Leaves" is a free Native Canadian legend you can read online, telling how the animals of the Great Council flee to the heavens as a new race approaches their land. Rainbow builds a shimmering bridge to the sky, and Deer is the first to cross it — vanishing without warning and leaving his companions behind. When Bear confronts him on the Rainbow Bridge, their fierce battle sends blood raining down onto the trees below. The story builds to a moment of loyalty, pride, and consequence that still echoes every autumn.
