The Lucky-stone

"The Lucky-Stone" is a short fable about two lads who each discover the same stone with a white band — said to bring good fortune to whoever carries it. The first lad stops working, dreams under a tree, and waits for riches that never come. The second lad pockets the stone and heads straight to the fields, convinced luck will make him work harder. Same stone, two very different futures. Lindsay quietly builds the contrast until the two lads meet again, and the truth behind fortune reveals itself with a warm, satisfying sting.
