How Sunflower Became An Outcast

"How Sunflower Became An Outcast" is a fairy tale fable by Abbie Phillips Walker that explains why sunflowers grow in backyards rather than among garden flowers. When Dust Imps threaten to choke the garden, Rosebush begs Sunflower to ask her beloved Sun to summon the Rain Elves — but Sunflower refuses, unwilling to cloud a single day with her love. It falls to the overlooked Honeysuckle Vine, climbing quietly on the wall, to catch a passing breeze and bring the rain that saves them all.
