Clytie, the Sunflower Nymph

"Clytie, the Sunflower Nymph" retells the myth of Clytie, a golden-haired nymph whose entire world revolves around the sun. Each day she rises at dawn to greet Apollo's first light, follows his arc across the sky, and watches him sink beneath the western horizon — her moods rising and falling with the clouds that cross his face. When Apollo notices this flower-like creature who loves the sun as deeply as any blossom, he makes a remarkable decision about her fate.
