The Good Thunder

The Good Thunder is a Japanese myth about Rai-Taro, the gentle son of Rai-Den, the God of Thunder. When his father asks him to choose a life among the people of earth — warriors, priests, a royal court, or a struggling farmer with no children — Rai-Taro makes a quiet, surprising decision. Raised in a humble rice field at the foot of Mount Hakusan, he grows into a devoted son and gifted weather prophet, bringing prosperity to his foster family, until the day comes when he must return to the skies.
