The Ram

The Ram is a fairy tale by Madame d'Aulnoy in which Princess Miranda is banished to the forest after her father, the king, mistakes her honesty for disrespect. Deep in the woods she meets a noble ram — a king cursed into animal form by a scorned fairy — who shelters her in a hidden castle and slowly wins her heart. When her sisters' weddings pull her back to the court she was forced to flee, Miranda faces a choice between loyalty and longing, and the cost of her hesitation proves devastating.
