The Teakettle

The Teakettle is a Japanese folk tale following an enchanted bronze kettle that hides a remarkable secret: it is Bumbuku-Chagama, the Prince of the Badger Tea Kettles. When a bargain-hunting priest unknowingly brings the mischievous kettle home to his temple, chaos erupts among his novices — yet no one believes their wild accounts. Sold off in frustration, the kettle finds a kinder home with a humble kettle-mender, and the two forge an unlikely friendship built on rice wine, conversation, and a daring plan to perform before all of Japan.
