Christmas Under The Snow

"Christmas Under The Snow" is a short story about the Barnes family, stranded when a fierce prairie blizzard buries their log cabin completely underground on Christmas Eve. With their father snowbound in the village and candles running low, young Willie takes charge — trapping rabbits for a pie, cracking hickory nuts for a pudding, and catching live birds as surprise gifts for his tearful sisters Nora and Tot. What begins as a desperate situation becomes a quietly triumphant Christmas, held together by one boy's determination not to let the storm win.
