What Jack Horner Did

"What Jack Horner Did" by L. Frank Baum reimagines the classic nursery rhyme as a short story with genuine heart and stakes. Young Jack lives with his ailing grandparents, their savings dwindling in a cracked teapot. Determined to help, he takes his small axe into the forest each day to chop wood — until a desperate cry stops him cold. Deep in the treacherous bog, a stranger is slowly sinking to his death, and Jack must act fast with only a sapling and his nerve to save him.
