The Enchanted Types

"The Enchanted Types" is a short fantasy story following Popopo, a restless knook with immense magical powers who grows bored with immortal life and ventures into a sleeping city. When he frees a milliner's stuffed hat-birds out of pure affection, he sets off a chain of comic disasters — from a shop full of terrified mice to a fainting milliner — and must reckon with the unintended harm his good intentions keep causing. The story builds toward a clever solution involving enchanted newspaper type and the quiet, invisible influence immortals hold over human fashion and thought.
