The Silent Princess

"The Silent Princess" is a Turkish fairy tale in which a young prince, cursed by an old woman he wronged in childhood, falls mysteriously ill with longing for a princess hidden behind seven veils — one no man has ever seen or heard speak. To win her hand, he must make her break her silence three times, on pain of death. Armed with a clever nightingale and a series of cunning riddles, the prince must outwit a princess whose sharp mind proves far sharper than anyone around her dares to admit.
