"The Lad Who Lost The Christmas Cake" is a short children's story following Peter, a good-natured boy tasked with delivering his mother's prized Christmas cake to a distant aunt. Armed with riddles and cautions from his fussy mother, Peter sets off — only to be distracted by a roadside juggler and his enchanted dog. When he reaches for his bag, the cake is gone, replaced by a grindstone. What unfolds is a lively tangle of accusations, wailing, and a very suspicious spell that may — or may not — be magic.
