How the Monkey and the Goat Earned Their Reputations | Folk Tales

This fable contrasts two journeys where a deceitful tiger invites first a naive goat and then a clever monkey to visit a friend. The goat foolishly trusts the tiger, facing danger in a marsh, going hungry while the tiger eats ripe bananas, and ultimately getting framed and beaten for the tiger's theft of a lamb, explaining how easily fooled people became known as "the goat." In contrast, the shrewd monkey refuses the tiger's dangerous instructions, eats the good bananas himself, stays alert, and cleverly ensures the tiger is caught covered in blood after killing the lamb, thus avoiding blame and outsmarting the bully.
