Pippo | Fairy Tales

This story follows Gagliuso, a poor man's youngest son who inherits only a cat, while his brother receives a useful sieve. Initially despairing, Gagliuso benefits from the cat's extraordinary cunning as it steals gifts for the king, pretending they are from Gagliuso, and orchestrates elaborate deceptions to portray him as immensely wealthy. These tricks lead the king to offer his daughter's hand in marriage along with a significant dowry, making Gagliuso rich. However, the tale serves as a cautionary lesson: Gagliuso quickly forgets the cat's instrumental role in his success, revealing his ungrateful nature, which prompts the disappointed cat to abandon him, leaving him to fend for himself and highlighting the importance of gratitude and the pitfalls of relying solely on others' efforts.
