The Hunter’s Friend, Johnnie Bear | Moral Stories
This story tells of a solitary hunter who finds and rescues a baby bear, Johnnie, from his trap, nursing its injured paw and forming a close bond. Johnnie lives with the hunter until eventually returning to the wild, leaving the hunter lonely. Years later, when the hunter breaks his arm and is cornered by a dangerous mother bear, a grown Johnnie Bear, recognizable by his limp, appears and seemingly convinces the other bear to leave, repaying the hunter's past kindness and saving his life, demonstrating a powerful message about compassion and loyalty returned.
