A Kidnapped Santa Claus

"A Kidnapped Santa Claus" is a short story in which five Daemons — Selfishness, Envy, Hatred, Malice, and Repentance — grow furious that Santa Claus keeps children too happy to visit their caves. When persuasion fails, they resort to ambush, snatching Santa from his sleigh on Christmas Eve and chaining him inside the mountain. Left without their master, his four tiny assistants — Wisk, Peter, Nuter, and Kilter — must deliver an entire world's worth of gifts alone, racing against sunrise while Santa's fate hangs in the darkness.
