Little Bud

"Little Bud" is a fairy tale by Louisa M. Alcott about a mysterious girl who hatches from a golden-banded egg in a forest bird's nest. Raised with warmth by Bird Brown-Breast and his mate, Bud becomes the joy of the whole forest. When two exiled Fairies seek her help, she journeys to Fairy-Land to plead for their forgiveness — but the real challenge begins when mercy alone cannot restore what selfishness has lost. The story follows Bud and the Elves through seasons of quiet labor, failed shortcuts, and slowly awakening compassion.
