The Little Match Girl

"The Little Match Girl" follows a barefoot, starving child alone on the last freezing night of the year, too afraid to go home without having sold a single match. Huddled between two houses, she lights her matches one by one, each tiny flame conjuring visions of a warm stove, a feast, a glowing Christmas tree, and finally her beloved grandmother. With every match she burns, the line between the cold world around her and something far beyond it grows thinner and more desperate.
