The Twelve Dancing Princesses is a fairy tale by Brothers Grimm in which a king offers a daughter's hand in marriage to any man who can solve a baffling mystery: every morning, his twelve daughters' shoes are danced to pieces, yet the locked room reveals nothing. Princes try and fail — paying with their lives. When a wounded soldier receives a magical cloak and a warning from an old woman, he follows the princesses into a secret underground world of silver forests, golden leaves, and candlelit castles where twelve princes wait to dance until dawn.
